Derek Boogaard's Death Ruled Accidental
+ Rangers sign Stajcer and Thrashers on the move

The results from Derek Boogaard’s autopsy are back and his death has been ruled accidental.  Boogaard died from a combination of alcohol and oxycodone toxicity.

Boogaard had entered into the NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Program this spring, his second stint in the program.  In 2009 while with the Minnesota Wild, Boogaard entered into Stage 1 of the program for the first time and missed much of training camp “under the guise of a concussion.”

Boogaard’s death was not caused by the concussion that ended his season this year, but we may never know more details than this.

Boogaard’s funeral will be held tomorrow in Saskatchewan.

- The Rangers announced the signing of yet another prospect today as Scott Stajcer inked his entry-level deal.  Stajcer put up decent numbers while sharing time in net for the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL, who will soon begin play for the CHL Memorial Cup.  New York has signed Roman Horak, Ryan Bourque, Dylan McIlrath, Christian Thomas, Carl Hagelin, and Jason Wilson in addition to Tommy Grant and Jason Missiaen.  Stajcer was the Rangers’ fifth-round choice in 2009 and is the 49th contract the Rangers currently have on the books out of the maximum of 50.

- Nothing is quite official yet, but the Atlanta Thrashers are on the verge of moving to Winnipeg as hockey in the US south continues to sputter along.  When the move becomes official, division realignment may be formally discussed.  As of now it’s just speculation that the Nashville Predators will replace Atlanta in the Southeast Division.

- If you missed it earlier, today’s draft profile is of Brandon Saad.
