Last week, Toronto came into the Garden looking for their first victory. The Rangers, were looking for their fifth win of the season.
New York got it's way as they put on an offensive performance second-to-none in a 7 - 2 route that left the Maple Leafs scratching their heads.
Tonight, both teams are in the same situation they were a week ago, the Rangers looking to extend their winning streak to seven games while Toronto is still searching for win number one.
There will be some changes tonight at Maple Leafs Garden. Toronto defenseman Mike Van Ryn, acquired in the Brian McCabe trade, has opted for season-ending and career-threatening knee surgery.
They will also look to ride former Islander goalie Joey McDonald a little longer as Jones Gustavsson is still injured and Vesa Toskala has been less than comfortable.
Wayne Primeau will find his way back into the lineup to center the fourth line. His veteran presence should help this young squad, particularly given their woes.
Head Coach Ron Wilson has tried to keep a light tone in the locker room, despite rumors swirling about players dismissing his system. Earlier in the week, Wilson had the Leafs playing some dodge ball in hopes of reminding his players the fun side of hockey.
The Rangers, however, don't need to be reminded how fun hockey is as they sit atop the Eastern Conference with 12 points. Marian Gaborik has had at least one point in each game and the inexperienced defense hasn't cracked yet.
Veteran forward Vinny Prospal has kept up with Gaborik's scoring pace, being a legitimate threat on the opposite wing of the first line.
Maligned defenseman Wade Redden has also begun to come around. Redden, while not seeing any power play time, has chipped in with some offense while playing hard nosed and smart defensively. Should he continue to gain confidence, he may live up to part of the major contract he signed last year.
Henrik Lundqvist should get the start again tonight after a 34 save effort against Los Angeles. Donald Brashear appears to be a game-time decision.
