The Bulletin Board keeps you abreast of the latest news
around the NHL Monday-Friday.
- Former Rangers’ goalie Steve Valiquette is the new
goalie coach at Quinnipiac University. Valiquette played in six games for the Rangers and 11 for the Hartford
Wolf Pack in 2009-2010 before heading overseas to Russia where he played 35
games for the KHL’s CKSA Moscow last season. Valiquette had a contract
offer from Lokomotiv of the KHL for this season but wasn’t interested
unless he would be guaranteed regular playing time. Valiquette subsequently moved to Connecticut
and recently took
a position under Quinnipiac coach Rand Pecknold.
- Sidney Crosby will
start the season on injured reserve but is eligible to return at any time.
- The Florida Panthers cut 2011
third-overall pick Jonathan Huberdeau, who some thought would make the
team.

camp tryout Ray Emery to a one-year deal.
- The San Jose Sharks signed training
camp tryout Brad Winchester to a one-year deal.
- Alex Ovechkin left
the Washington Capitals to return home to Moscow after learning of the
death of a family member. Ovechkin is
expected to be in the lineup for Washington’s season-opener on Saturday.

director of NHL Central Scouting.
- Phoenix Coyotes’ prospect Viktor Tikhonov didn’t make the NHL
club again this season and will
likely play for the KHL’s SKA St. Petersburg this year.
