The Bulletin Board keeps you abreast of the latest news around the NHL Monday-Friday.

- There are three games on tap for the opening night of the season: the Philadelphia Flyers visit the defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins, Montreal challenges Toronto and the Sidney Crosby-less Pittsburgh Penguins take on 2011 runner up Vancouver Canucks.  Philly/Boston is at 7:00 on Versus followed by Pittsburgh/Vancouver at 10:00.

- Jaromir Jagr has 30 points in season-opening games.  If he gets one tonight he’ll pass Ray Bourque for most all time.

- Nine picks from the 2011 draft are expected to start the season with their NHL clubs: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Gabriel Landeskog, Adam Larsson, Ryan Strome, Mika Zibanejad, Mark Scheifele, Sean Couturier, Ryan Murphy and Brandon Saad,   That’s the most since 2008, when 10 players made the jump.  Only 24 players since the lockout have gone straight from the draft to the NHL.  Saad will be a rare second-round pick to go straight from junior hockey to the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks.  Each player has nine games to prove he deserves a permanent spot, at that point NHL clubs must decide whether to keep the player on the roster or return him to juniors.

- Here are 20 rookies to watch in the NHL this season.

- Here are 11 burning questions for the season.

- Zach Parise was named captain of the New Jersey Devils.  Patrik Elias and Ilya Kovalchuk will be the alternates.

- The New York Islanders will carry three goalies to start the season: Rick DiPietro, Al Montoya and Evgeni Nabokov.

- The Montreal Canadiens claimed former Ranger Blair Betts off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.

- The Phoenix Coyotes signed Twitter superstar Paul Bissonnette to a two-year contract extension.

- Martin Havlat, acquired from the Minnesota Wild this offseason for Dany Heatley, will miss San Jose’s opening game.  Havlat has had plenty of injuries in the past, so this isn’tencouraging news for the Sharks.

- Offensive defenseman Stefan Elliot was the final cut by the Colorado Avalanche.

- 2011 No. 12 overall pick Ryan Murphy has made the Carolina Hurricanes.

- Eighth-overall pick Sean Couturier will open the season with the Philadelphia Flyers.

- The St. Louis Blues have a verbal agreement with Chicago businessman Matthew Hulsizer to purchase the team.  Hulsizer attempted to buy the Phoenix Coyotes last year.

- Rick Martin, who passed away in March, was the third former NHLer to donate his brain to scientific research.  It was revealed yesterday that he had  Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), “a disease that has repeatedly been linked to brain trauma.”
