Bulletin Board: Philadelphia And Winnipeg Combine For 17 Goals!?

Andrew Ladd scored Winnipeg's ninth goal with just over a minute left in regulation

Andrew Ladd scored Winnipeg's ninth goal with just over a minute left in regulation

The Bulletin Board keeps you abreast of the latest news around the NHL Monday-Friday.

- Winnipeg and Philadelphia played the wildest game of the season last night.  Philadelphia came back from a 5-1 deficit and at one point scored five unanswered goals, but Andrew Ladd scored the game-winner for Winnipeg with just over a minute remaining in regulation to give the Jets an incredible 9-8 victory.  The 17 goals scored were the most in a game since 1996.  That was also the last time a team scored eight goals and lost, as Pittsburgh fell to San Jose 10-8 on January 13, 1996.

- Philadelphia goalie Ilya Bryzgalov had a tremendous start to the season, but has a save percentage of just .827 in his last three games.  Bryzgalov shouldered most of the blame for the loss and was not pleased with himself: "I have zero confidence in myself right now," he said. "I am terrible. (The offense) scores eight goals and we are still losing. It's obviously a terrible goalie and that's me.  I am the reason we lost the game tonight. I am lost in the woods right now."

- Winnipeg had scored 17 goals all season before exploding for nine in 60 minutes.

- Oft-injured goalie Rick DiPietro made his first appearance of the season last night, relieving starting goalie Evgeni Nabokov for a shootout against the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Nabokov had made 30 saves on 32 shots but apparently wasn’t feeling well.  DiPietro gave up a shootout goal to Evgeni Malkin as the Islanders lost to Pittsburgh again.

- Nick Foligno’s goal with 2.5 seconds left in regulation gave Ottawa a 4-3 win over Florida.

- The surprising Oilers won again, this time a 2-1 victory over the Washington Capitals.  Nikolai Khabibulin continued his miraculous start, saving 34 of 35 shots to improve to 4-0-2 with a .97 goals against average this season.  Edmonton is now 5-2-2.

- Jonathan Quick’s shutout streak was finally snapped after 202:11, but the Los Angeles Kings won again over the Dallas Stars.

- Montreal showed more signs of righting the ship, beating the Boston Bruins 2-1 to pick up their second-straight win.  The Canadiens managed to win even though Tomas Plekanec won a faceoff behind him that somehow beat Carey Price.  Boston is just 3-6-0.

- Kyle Turris has been the subject of trade rumors for months, but yesterday his agent confirmed that Turris has asked Phoenix to trade him.

- Unsurprisingly, the Edmonton Oilers won’t send 2011 first-overall pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins back to juniors.

- The Toronto Maple Leafs sent top prospect Nazem Kadri to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

- Toronto placed goalie James Reimer on injured reserve with concussion-like symptoms.

- Top Philadelphia prospect Brayden Schenn will miss the next four-to-six weeks with a broken foot.

- Ottawa’s Peter Regin injured his shoulder again and will miss the next six-to-eight weeks.

- Mikael Renberg won’t be joining Eric Lindros at the Winter Classic alumni game in a “Legion of Doom” line reunion.  Renberg currently works for SVT television in Sweden and will be busy broadcasting the 2012 World Junior Championships.

- Wayne Gretzky doesn’t plan to play in the Winter Classic alumni game for the Rangers.  Gretzky said he likes to be around his family during the holidays.
