How far will the Rangers get this season?

Bulletin Board: Boston Is Back

The Bulletin Board keeps you abreast of the latest news around the NHL Monday-Friday.

- The defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins are finally starting to get their act together and have now won three straight.  Boston defeated the New York Islanders 6-2 as Nathan Horton scored twice and Tuukka Rask picked up his first win of the year.

- A gruesome injury to forward Danny Paille overshadowed Boston’s victory.  Paille took a Steve Staios slap shot directly to his face and the bloody aftermath wasn’t pretty.  Paille will see a specialist to examine the damage.

- San Jose won for the seventh time in nine tries.  The Sharks only regulation loss in that span came at the hands of the New York Rangers.  Patrick Marleau picked up three points in the 4-2 victory that sent Los Angeles to its fifth-straight loss.

- It had been speculated that Sidney Crosby would make his season debut on Friday at home against Dallas, but Crosby has been noncommittal and Penguins’ Coach Dan Bylsma says there’s still no timetable for Crosby’s return.

- Toronto forward Tim Connolly will miss the next 10-to-14 days with an upper-body injury.

- Anaheim enforcer George Parros will be out a month after undergoing laser eye surgery to repair damage from taking a puck to the face in practice.

- Florida goalie Scott Clemmensen is ready to return so the Panthers sent top goalie prospect Jacob Markstrom to the AHL.  Markstrom shined in limited early action; he’ll be back sooner than later.

- Carolina recalled top prospect Zac Dalpe and sent Drayson Bowman to Charlotte of the AHL.

- Check out Puck Daddy’s awesome guide to the NHL’s realignment history.

- There are nine games on the schedule tonight.  Carolina @ New Jersey will be on Versus at 7:30 p.m., but Dallas @ Washington is the game of the night.  Ken Hitchcock will make his return to the St. Louis Blues against the Chicago Blackhawks.  Hitchcock will roll with No. 1 goalie Jaroslav Halak despite Brian Elliot’s recent hot streak.
