The Bulletin Board keeps you abreast of the latest news
around the NHL Monday-Friday.
- Columbus lost again, this time to the Chicago
Blackhawks. The Blue Jackets have been
outscored 19-5 during their current three-game losing streak and are a hideous
2-12-1 on the year. Rick Nash did
collect his
500th career point in the contest and Jonathan Toews scored twice for the
9-4-3 Blackhawks. Columbus ranks 25th in goals scored, 30th in goals against, 29th on the power play and 30th on the penalty kill. Poor Vinny Prospal.
- Two goals from Brad Marchand helped Boston cruise to its
fourth-straight win, a 6-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers. After scoring just 21 goals in their first 10
games, the Bruins have scored 22 times
in their last 11 periods and are now ranked third in the league in offense.
- Kris Versteeg’s hat trick pushed the surprising 8-4-3 Florida
Panthers past the Winnipeg Jets. Versteeg
also added an assist.
- Colorado came back from a 3-0 deficit to upend the New York
Islanders in overtime 4-3. Defenseman
Kyle Quincey scored the game-winner.
- Patrick Marleau scored twice to help San Jose end Minnesota’s
five-game winning streak. The Sharks have
lost just once in regulation in their last 10 games, at the hands of the “soft”
Rangers.
- Toronto goalie Ben Scrivens made 38 saves to guide the Leafs
to a shootout win over the St. Louis Blues.
Ken Hitchcock is now 1-0-1 in his return to the league.
- Sidney Crosby won’t
play Friday or Saturday.
- Daniel Alfredsson should
return to Ottawa’s lineup tonight after suffering a concussion when he was
hit by a Wojtek Wolski elbow over a week ago.
- The Blue Jackets traded
defenseman Kris Russell to St. Louis for prospect Nikita Nikitin.
- After initially indicating that he wouldn’t participate in
the Winter Classic alumni game, Wayne Gretzky now says he’ll
“mull it over.”
- The NHL released its 2012 All-Star Game fan ballot yesterday. Four Rangers made the list,
but there’s a strong
push to get Dan Girardi into the game.
- The NHL announced that it has expanded
its partnership with producer Ross Greenburg, which means we should be
seeing a lot of cool documentaries and the like on the new NBC Sports Network
next spring.
- There are seven games on the schedule
tonight. Other than Carolina @ New
York, keep an eye on Dallas @ Pittsburgh which pits the current Western
Conference leader against the Eastern Conference leading Penguins.
