How far will the Rangers get this season?

Bulletin Board: Bruins Finally Lose In Regulation

Ondrej Pavelec stopped 39 shots to snap Boston's 14-0-1 streak

The Bulletin Board keeps you abreast of the latest news around the NHL Monday-Friday.

- The Bruins finally lost in regulation at the hands of Winnipeg, 2-1.  Boston had gone 14-0-1 since October 29th.  With the victory the Jets went over .500 for the first time this year.  Boston made sophomore forward Tyler Seguin a healthy scratch after he missed a team breakfast.

- David Clarkson scored twice including the overtime game-winner to help New Jersey beat Toronto 3-2.  Clarkson, best known for being a pest, is now tied for the Devils’ team lead with nine goals.  In the contest rookie Adam Henrique extended his point streak to six games (two goals, five assists) and Zach Parise extended his to five games (one goal, five assists).  A day after losing the goal-scoring lead Phil Kessel added his 17th tally of the season to tie Jonathan Toews once again.

- The New York Islanders crushed Tampa Bay 5-1, sending the Lightning to its fifth straight loss.  Despite the victory, the Islanders allowed a goal on the first shot of the game by their opponent for the seventh time this season, which is unfathomable.  John Tavares snapped a 13-game goal-less drought with his first marker since October 29th.  Tampa Bay has won just three of its last 11 games and now leads the Islanders by a single point for 13th place in the Eastern Conference.  Tampa Bay’s goaltending tandem of Dwayne Roloson and Mathieu Garon has been atrocious, so the team had better trade for a legitimate netminder or risk missing the playoffs.

- Josh Harding started in net for Minnesota last night with Niklas Backstrom ailing, but when Harding was injured the Wild brought in 21-year-old rookie Matt Hackett, the son of former NHLer Jeff Hackett.  He led the Wild to a 2-1 victory over San Jose.  Hackett is the ninth rookie used by Minnesota this year

- St. Louis scored twice in the third period to slip by Detroit 3-2.  Revival story Brian Elliott picked up his 11th victory of the young season, two shy of his total from 2010-2011.  The Blues have needed brilliant goaltending – this was the first time they scored more than two goals in regulation in nine games.

- Bruce Boudreau picked up his first victory as coach of Anaheim as the Ducks topped Los Angeles 3-2.  Bobby Ryan scored the game-winner with just 49 seconds remaining in regulation.

- Brendan Morrison had four points and Jarome Iginla added three to guide Calgary to a wild 7-6 victory over Carolina.

- Daniel Sedin posted a hat trick to lead Vancouver to a 6-0 demolishing of Colorado.

- Rick Nash’s shootout goal propelled Columbus by Montreal 3-2.

- Harding, Kristian Huselius, David Booth, Devin Setoguchi, Roberto Luongo and Corey Perry were all injured last night.  Luongo and Perry returned to their respective games.

- James van Riemsdyk is expected to return to Philadelphia’s lineup tonight against Buffalo.

- Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports that Carolina offered defenseman Tomas Kaberle and a second-round pick to the Blue Jackets for Derick Brassard, but Columbus rejected the proposal.

- The NHL suspended forward Jordin Tootoo two games for running into Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller, who was injured by Milan Lucic earlier this year.

- Philadelphia’s Max Talbot thinks Claude Giroux is as good as former teammate Sidney Crosby.

- Apparently John Steigerwald of the Washington (Pa.) Observer-Reporter penned a piece accusing Alex Ovechkin of steroid use, which led to this bizarre interview.

- There are three games on the schedule tonight.  Philadelphia @ Buffalo will be on Versus at 7:30 p.m.
