Marc Staal being assisted to the back

The shot that made both Ranger and Flyer fans flinch on Tuesday night wasn't made by Rick Nash. It was a misdirected puck that made contact with the visor-less Marc Staal. Staal hit the ice, but was able to make his way to seek medical treatment in the back under his own power. He was examined today in New York by Dr. Mark Fromer, ophthalmologist, and Dr. Mendel Markowitz, maxillofacial surgeon.  The injury has improved significantly and both doctors are optimistic that Marc will make a full recovery, but will be out indefinitely.

The Rangers organization made news today by acquiring Roman Hamrlik off waivers from the capitals. Hamrlik is the current leader in “games played” in the NHL, and will give the Rangers injured defense his 20 years of NHL experience.
