NEW YORK, NY MARCH 15, 2014 – Blueshirt Bulletin and Ice Hockey in Harlem jointly announced today that they will host a fundraising event at Midtown’s Suite 36 Restaurant and Sports Lounge on Saturday April 26, 2014 to celebrate Blueshirt Bulletin’s new “Beyond the Ice” rebranding.

Blueshirt Bulletin, the independent monthly publication covering the New York Rangers® of the National Hockey League®, will be donating a portion of proceeds from the event to Ice Hockey in Harlem, a charitable organization offering programming that allows children in the community to take advantage of the educational and athletic opportunities provided by youth sports.

Fans will get the first look at the all-new Blueshirt Bulletin magazine, complete with logos, apparel, social media outlets, and extended coverage while contributing to a tremendous local organization.

“When we decided to rebrand Blueshirt Bulletin, the first significant change to the publication since its inception in 1991, we wanted to focus on the fan base and community,” said Daniel Akeson, President of Blueshirt Bulletin. “There is no greater local organization in New York hockey to involve in this event than Ice Hockey in Harlem.”

Part of the Blueshirt Bulletin “Beyond the Ice” fan-campaign will be a monthly feature “In the Community” covering the best of local hockey events and charitable efforts. Fans will also get to submit their own local teams for the new “Pond Hockey” feature celebrating a special local team each month.

“Blueshirt Bulletin has a tremendous tradition covering New York Rangers hockey,” said John Sanful, Executive Director of Ice Hockey in Harlem. “We are grateful that Blueshirt Bulletin has chosen to include Ice Hockey in Harlem in its rebranding initiative. The publication has been an important part of the local hockey community for many years."

In addition to new print features, Blueshirt Bulletin will also be getting a full facelift with a modern streamlined design, new contemporary logos and cleaner look to the magazine.

“We are really proud of the effort our staff has put in with bringing Blueshirt Bulletin into the modern era,” said Akeson. “Blueshirt Bulletin subscribers are a community and it’s important for us to represent that and appeal to it.”

While Blueshirt Bulletin is excited to launch the next phase of their history, Akeson reminds the fans why they are here.

“This event is about community and contributing to the grass roots of New York hockey. The important proceeds going to Ice Hockey in Harlem further the New York hockey tradition and allow it continue to grow.”

Fans are asked to purchase entry and VIP tickets by visiting or clicking the “Beyond The Ice” link on the Blueshirt Bulletin main page.

Sponsorship and advertising opportunities are available by calling Ice Hockey in Harlem (212) 722-0044 or Blueshirt Bulletin at (212) 851-3646.

In addition to a new Blueshirt Bulletin, fans in attendance will get to sample terrific food and drinks from Suite 36, a contemporary sports bar and lounge.

“When Suite 36 was brought to us, we thought where better to launch the new modern Blueshirt Bulletin than one of Manhattan’s most chic sports venues,” said Akeson. “We know the fans will love the venue and enjoy what we have planned.”

And as always, fans should stay tuned for a few surprises including some special guests.
