Blueshirt Bulletin is proud to announce that former New York Rangers stars Nick Fotiu and Ron Greschner will be appearing at the “Beyond the Ice” Charity Hockey Event benefiting Ice Hockey in Harlem on April 26, 2014 from 7 – 10PM at midtown’s Suite 36.

Both Fotiu and Greschner will be participating in a live fan Q&A during the Blueshirt Bulletin live podcast. VIP ticket holders will also have the opportunity to take photos with the Rangers legends following the Q&A.

Fotiu, known for his gritty enforcer-style of play, was the first Staten Island-native to play for the Rangers. After beginning his career in the WHA with the New England Whalers, Fotiu signed with the hometown Blueshirts in 1976. While the Hartford Whalers took him during the 1979 Expansion Draft, Fotiu would return to New York during the 1980 – 81 season where he would play until 1985. Always a fan favorite for his acknowledgment of the “blue seats” and “New York-style” of play, Fotiu remains involved with the organization, even appearing as an assistant coach for the AHL Hartford Wolf Pack. Today, Fotiu continues to contribute to the New York community with his “Nick Fotiu Foundation,” which benefits programs like the Garden of Dreams Foundation, police athletic leagues, and food banks.

Greschner, spent his entire 16-season career with the Rangers, being drafted No. 32 in the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. A gifted offensive defenseman, Greschner appeared in 982 career NHL games, amassing 179 goals and 431 assists for 610 points along with 1,226 penalty minutes. Greschner was a key member of the Rangers Stanley Cup run during the 1978 – 79 season, scoring 17 goals and 36 assists during the regular season and adding another seven goals and five assists during the playoffs. Today, Greschner is still a prominent face at MSG, interacting with fans and working with his “Ron Greschner Foundation for Autism,” that benefits autism research and awareness. Greschner is also founder of “4 Beginnings of Green,” an eco-friendly company promoting sustainability “green initiatives” in industry.
