How far will the Rangers get this season?

How sad it was the day after the New York Rangers lost game 1 to see so many Ranger “fans” already handing the Stanley Cup to the Kings. Actually it wasn’t sad it was a huge pile of crap to look around and see so many crybabies whining over the loss of ONE game as if the world was coming to an end.

Hello it is a best of seven series for a reason so if losing one game is causing you to quit on this team then please just leave and stop watching. It is nonsense that just because the Rangers lost in overtime that bloggers are claiming that the clock is striking midnight on the “Cinderella” Rangers.

“Cinderella”? The Rangers entered the playoffs as the 5th seed in the eastern conference not the 8th seed who needed a miracle on the final day of the season just to make the playoffs. “Cinderella” doesn’t finish with 96 points or 45 wins during the regular season.

The true test of being a fan comes when the team is facing adversity and honestly even if they lose game 2 in Los Angeles will that mean the Rangers can’t win the cup. The Rangers can win game 2 and take the series back to New York tied up at 1-1.

The Rangers lost game one according to Coach Alain Vigneault because there were too many players who did not bring their “A” game. Think about it they lost 3-2 in overtime and they didn’t play their best game.

Nothing against the Kings who are a rock solid team as advertised but they had a lot of trouble with the Ranger speed. The Kings did a good job preventing the Rangers in the 3rd period from using that speed but they still had breakdowns. That the Rangers failed to convert on those breakdowns is part of why there are people foolishly jumping off the bandwagon.

I will say this much and that you can see which Ranger fans are the older ones as they have been through way worse than losing just one game. There are way worse feelings than losing a single game if you are a Ranger fan.

Maybe I saw a different game than those who are crying that “the sky is falling” as to me it was about not building on that 2-0 lead early in the first. Yes the Rangers just didn’t play a “smart” game but they have played worse even in this playoff season if you can remember game 4 against the Penguins.

Just relax and give this team the chance that they have rightfully earned instead of writing them off. Have some faith in the coach who has earned a lot of respect for the job he has done getting the Rangers to this point.

If you can’t then it is your loss and that will leave more room for the rest of us on the bandwagon.
