OK since everyone is chiming in on what the Rangers need to do in order to defeat the Los Angeles Kings in game 2, I decided I wanted to toss my two cents in as well. Actually I am going to parrot what Coach Alain Vigneault has been saying the last couple of days.

The Rangers need everyone to bring their “A” game to the party and give the coach the sixty minutes of hockey he wants. I also think that too many haven’t been listening to what the coach said about his team and offering advice that really won’t work.

We really need to remember that the biggest reason why the Rangers lost game one wasn’t Dan Girardi’s turnover in the overtime period. It was a huge failure to finish the chances that the team had been generating during the first and second periods.

The Rangers were too busy trying to make the “perfect” play at times and “overpassed” the puck when they should have just put it on net. It is old and sometimes done to death but it is also true “good things happen when you put the puck on net.”

And enough already about how physical the Kings can be because if you are skating then it becomes really hard for someone to hit you. Get Kreider, Hagelin and more out in the open ice skating and the Kings will be the ones struggling with their game.

Really the biggest issue in the 3rd period was that the Rangers stopped skating and they allowed the Kings to dictate pace and tempo. Physical teams don’t like to play end to end hockey because it makes it easier for them to screw up things like line changes and coverage assignments.

If the Kings wind up with an odd man rush of their own then the Rangers have their “King” back there to cover up for mistakes. Despite all 20 of those shots not one got past Henrik Lundqvist so go on the attack and force the Kings to chase you all over the ice.

But the most important thing Ranger or fan cannot do is panic on Saturday because once you start panicking then you defeat yourself. Weather the first 10 minutes of the first period and then settle in and play your own game.

The Rangers can win game 2 but it is going to take the team believing that they can win (and the fans too).
