How far will the Rangers get this season?

Olympic Bound
Callahan and Drury announced on Team USA roster

A rebound win against the Carolina Hurricanes and a chance to travel to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Not a bad way to end 2009 and start 2010 for Captain Chris Drury and assistant captain Ryan Callahan.

The 2010 appearance will be Callahan's first and Drury's third.

Blueshirt Bulletin contributor and Newsday beat writer had the following reactions from the players at practice today:

“He said, ‘We thought you had a good first half of the season and can help the Olympic team,” said Callahan, a 24-year old Rochester native who was chosen as a Rangers alternate captain in his fourth season and has 19 points, including five goals and six assists in the last 13 games. “To say I was excited is putting it mildly.”

Chris Drury, who celebrated the birth of his third child this week, was equally excited.

"It's been a great week," said Drury. "Just based on age, it's three different circumstances. Now I'll be one of the oldest."

Drury participated in 2002 and 2006, earning the Silver Medal.

In 12 games, Drury has three points and is a +3.

The team re-matches against the Hurricanes tomorrow afternoon at MSG. Game time is scheduled for 1 pm. Catch our live blog here at
