Guess the hockey world was more interested in watching Wrestlemania XXX than playing on Sunday as there was just 1 game involving a New York Ranger prospect and that was Mackenzie Skapski (NYR 2013 6th) of the Kootenay Ice. Skapski and his Ice were in Medicine Hat for game 2 of their WHL Eastern Conference Semifinals series with the Medicine Hat Tigers 24 hours after stealing game 1 from the Tigers 4-2.

I say stealing because the Tigers (no pun intended) roared back for a 5-2 win that evened up the series at 1-1. Skapski got the start and the loss but going to give him a bit of a pass here as he got almost no offensive support after the 1st period. Medicine Hat would grab an early 1-0 lead with the game barely 3 minutes old but the Ice would respond with 2 goals including a shorthanded one to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

That was the highlight of the Ice's night as Medicine Hat would tie the game in the 2nd period then would score 3 in the 3rd period to pull away for the win.  Skapski was charged with 4 of the goals as he faced 36 shots but as I said he gets a bit of a pass because Kootenay left their offense in the locker room after the 1st period.

Yes Skapski gave up 2 goals on 12 shots during the period but Kootenay would only take 4 shots for the period and got no offense from their star players Sam Reinhart and Jaedon Descheneau for the 2nd straight game. That the series is heading back to Kootenay tied at 1-1 is because Skapski stole game 1 for the Ice.

The series is on the  way to Kootenay where the Ice won both of their regular season meetings with the Tigers. Game 3 will be Wednesday and hopefully Kootenay will remember to bring their offense.
