Friday night was a mixed bag as the Baby Rangers defeated the Baby Penguins and Baby Canadians in ECHL action while Ryan Graves and his Val-d’Or Foreurs dropped their game. First up is the game report from Andy Zilch of the Greenville Road Warriors.

Greenville, SC: The Road Warriors defeated the Wheeling Nailers 4-1 Friday night after staging a comeback in the third period with four unanswered goals.

For the first time this series the first period saw no goals. The Road Warriors had one power play opportunity while Wheeling had two man advantages but neither team was able to capitalize. Greenville was outshot 13-8 at the end of the scoreless period.

Tyler Fernandez gave Wheeling a 1-0 lead when he slipped a low shot past Jason Missiaen after a backhand pass from Zack Torquato. Greenville outshot Wheeling 18-4 in throughout period and had one power play opportunity, but was unable to capitalize. The period ended with the Road Warriors trailing 1-0.

Michael St. Croix started the Road Warriors third period comeback by scoring on the power play 1:39 into the third frame. The goal was scored on a rebound after a shot by Josh Nicholls to tie the game at one. Jordie Johnston scored 40 seconds later when he tipped in a shot by Sam Noreau to take a 2-1 lead. Justin Vaive pulled Greenville ahead 3-1 just 6:47 into the period with a backhand shot past Mike Condon on the backhand. St. Croix led Vaive into the zone with a strong pass to earn the assist. Josh Nicholls increased the Road Warriors lead to 4-1 with seconds left in the game when he scored an empty netter on the power play off a pass from Brad Cole. Missiaen made 26 saves and was the first star of the game. Greenville now leads the series 3-2.

The Ranger Prospect report

Jason Missiaen (2011 UFA) stopped 26 of 27 shots for the win. Missiaen is 6-2-1 with a 2.05 goals against and a 0.940 save percentage.

Jeff Malcom (2013 UFA) was the backup and DNP

Samuel Noreau (2011 5th) had the secondary assist on the game winning goal for his 4th point of the playoffs. Noreau was also a +1 and took 1 shot

Andrew Yogan (2010 4th) was scoreless on 1 shot and had a minor for roughing.

Michael St. Croix (2011 4th) Registered his 4th goal of the playoffs on the tying goal and added the primary assist to bring his numbers to 3-7-10 which is 2nd on the team.

Josh Nicholls (2013 UFA) scored his 2nd goal of the playoffs which was the dagger goal. Nicholls is 2-6-8

Kyle Jean (2012 UFA) sat out the last of his 3 game suspension for an elbow to the head penalty that he received in game 2.

In Baie-Comeau, the Drakkar took a 3-2 lead in the QMJHL finals after defeating Ryan Graves (2013 4th) and his Val-d’Or Foreurs 6-5. It was a back and forth game between the 2 teams but Val-d’Or could never find a way to stop the Drakkar long enough for them to take the lead in this game.

Ryan Graves had just a minor for cross-checking to show for his night as his team heads back home looking to force a game 7.
