The New York Rangers were not the only ones to pull out
badly needed wins in a game 6 as Ryan Graves (2013 4th) led his
Val-d’Or Foreurs to a 6-3 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. Graves had a career
playoff best with a 1-2-3 +4 effort that earned him the number 2 star from
Yahoo’s Buzzing the Net for Sunday.
Graves did his heroics in the 3rd period as part
of a 4 goal outburst by the Foreurs who broke a 2-2 tie to earn the win. With
the score 3-2 in the 3rd period, Graves got on the scoreboard with a
secondary assist on the Foreurs 4th goal of the game, the goal which
would wind up being the game winner.
The Drakkar would score to cut the Foreurs lead to one goal,
it would be Graves scoring his first ever playoff goal at 15:21 of the 3rd period to restore the 2 goal lead. Graves would then earn the only assist on
the Foreur’s final goal of the game an empty net goal at 19:04.
Graves would wind up watching the end of the game from the
penalty box as he was called for roughing at 19:51 missing out on the Gordie
Howe hat trick. Graves would pick up 2 other minors earning calls for holding
and boarding that the Drakkar failed to score on.
Graves is 1-7-8 +13 with 22 PIMs in the playoffs as his
Foreurs head back to Baie-Comeau for game 7 on Tuesday evening. A win means a
trip to the Memorial Cup and of course the QMJHL Championship.
