Prospect Park: Gettinger And Greyhounds Take 3-0 Series Lead

In News, Prospect Park by Jess Rubenstein

Tim Gettinger and his Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds have a 3-0 series lead over the Saginaw Spirit after a 7-3 win. The win in game three was closer than the score shows but in the end, another Greyhounds win.

Gettinger once again had a two-assist night were secondary assists to give him six in the series. The first assist came on Hayden Verbeek’s goal, the Greyhound’s fourth of the game. Tim Gettinger picked up the puck at center ice and started the attack.

Gettinger then found Keegan Howdeshell as he entered the offensive zone and Howshedell hit Verbeek with a pass for the goal. The goal was 13 seconds after the Greyhounds had taken a 3-2 lead.

The second assist is not caught on video but Gettinger helps setup Ramus Sandin for a power-play goal still in the third period.

Gettinger records the two assists in a game where he does not take a shot, he is a +1 and 1-2 on faceoffs. The Greyhounds go for the series sweep on Wednesday in Saginaw.

Libor Hajek and his Regina Pats lost the home ice advantage they had earned from the Swift Current Broncos dropping game three 4-1. The Broncos take a 2-1 series lead with the road win.

Hajek was scoreless as he has yet to register a point in the series but it is not for trying. Libor took four shots but they are just not falling for him. He was a -1 with a minor for holding in the third period.

The Pats will look to even the series on Wednesday.

Part of the reason we have been able to show as many goal highlights in the playoffs is due to the extra effort by the communications departments of the OHL and WHL. However, beginning to the seven day work week is getting to them.

There is no truth that the goal scorers shown here are Glen Sather and Jim Schoenfeld.
