Just two New York Ranger prospects in action on Friday night with both seeing their teams earning wins. Riley Hughes extended his point-scoring streak to four games (2-5-7) with his second straight multi-point effort as his Victoria Grizzlies earned a 4-3 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings.

Hughes set up the game-winning goal when he fed Alex Newhook at 11:54 of the third period breaking a 3-3 tie. It was Hughes sixth assist of the season as he earned the game’s third star.

The Rangers 2018 seventh round pick would get the Grizzlies on the scoreboard at 14:34 of the first period on a power-play goal. It was part of a three-goal outburst for the Grizzlies in the first period. The goal was Hughes fourth of the season and second power-play goal.

The Grizzlies improve to 7-3 on the season as they play three games in three days. They have a seven-hour bus ride from Prince George to Salmon Arm in British Columbia for a Saturday afternoon game.

Defenseman Nico Gross had an assist as his Oshawa Generals spanked the Hamilton Bulldogs 7-1. Gross played a solid game as his first point of the season set up the game-winner. The Ranger’s 2018 fourth-round pick was a +3 on two shots and he took two minor penalties.
