Prospect Park: Huska Stops 28 in UConn Win

In News, Prospect Park by Jess Rubenstein

Adam Huska stopped 28 out of 30 shots to led his UConn Huskies to a 4-2 win over Colgate in non-conference action. Huska gave up even-strength goals in the first and second period has very much turned things around after a starting the season with just three wins.

Huska improves to 8-10-2 with his fifth win in his last six starts. He improves his goals against to 2.57 and ups his save percentage to 0.912. UConn goes on their winter break and does not play again until December 30th against Boston College.

I was in Portland to catch Ty Ronning play with his Vancouver Giants, honestly, the Winterhawks covered Ronning perfectly keeping him from finding any open space to create. Portland outshot Vancouver 37-18 as Vancouver goalie David Tendeck did his version of Henrik Lundqvist stopping everything Portland threw at him.

Vancouver improves to 14-13-2-2 after knocking off western conference leaders Portland for the second time this week.

Tyler Nanne was scoreless on three shots and a -1 as his seventh-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers were knocked off on the road by 13th-ranked Ohio State 2-1 in Big Ten action. Same two teams will face each other on Saturday night.

Tim Gettinger sat out Friday with what is being called a “lower body injury”. Gettinger suffered the injury on Wednesday in the third period. His status is listed as “day-to-day”.

I expect Gettinger to not play this weekend so he can heal properly. His SSM Greyhounds did not miss their captain as they knocked off the North Bay Battalion 3-1 for their 16th straight win.

Terry Doyle of the OHL News-Radio edition has Gettinger on his show so check it out to learn something about this future Ranger

No Tyler Wall as he remains the backup goalie for his UMass Lowell RiverHawks. Hard to argue why Wall is not playing when he is 0-5 and his replacement is 8-2.
